Highlights
- After just one 15-minute session, participants showed increased in Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and a shift toward parasympathetic activity, reflecting greater relaxation and recovery capacity.
- Over 15 to 30 days of daily use, participants reported better sleep quality, reduced fatigue, and lower stress and depression scores.
- Physical function, anxiety, and pain also improved by day 30, suggesting broad benefits for vitality and resilience in older adults.
- Findings highlight NanoVi Exo®’s potential role in healthy aging, supporting relaxation, emotional balance, and recovery naturally and non-invasively.
Introduction
Healthy aging depends on maintaining vitality, resilience, and emotional balance. For adults over 60, supporting these factors can help sustain quality of life and independence. Two areas of interest are autonomic balance, which reflects how the nervous system regulates stress and recovery, and self-reported measures of well-being, such as sleep, mood, and fatigue. A recent pilot study explored whether the NanoVi Exo® device could influence these outcomes in older adults.
Study Overview
Six adults (3 males, 3 females; average age ~69 years) participated in the study. At baseline, participants completed validated questionnaires — including the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), DASS-21, Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), and PROMIS-29 — and underwent Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measurement using the PPG Stress Flow device (Biotekna, Italy).
Each participant then completed a single 15-minute NanoVi Exo® session, after which HRV was reassessed to capture immediate effects. Questionnaires were repeated after 15 and 30 days of daily sessions to evaluate short-term changes in wellness outcomes.
✅ Key Observations
Immediate Effects (after one session):
- Participants showed increased HRV (SDNN and RMSSD).
- There was a shift toward parasympathetic activity, suggesting greater relaxation and recovery capacity.
Self-Reported Outcomes (15 and 30 days):
- Sleep quality and duration improved significantly (PSQI).
- Fatigue levels decreased (FSS).
- Depression and stress scores were reduced (DASS-21).
- By day 30, PROMIS-29 results also showed improvements in physical function, anxiety, and pain.
Conclusion
This pilot study suggests that NanoVi Exo® sessions may help support autonomic balance in the short term, while daily use over 15 to 30 days may contribute to better sleep, lower fatigue, and improved emotional and physical well-being in older adults. These promising observations highlight the value of further research with larger, controlled trials to confirm and expand upon these findings.
